You have probably seen guys like K.D, D.U, Dom with shift boots taken from the stick shift and put on their Automatic transmissions. Well, it has a nice look but more and more people ask questions on how to install it. So here it is:
- Remove shifter, The little slot on the shifter facing the radio is a litte "U" shaped pin. Pull this out. Then wiggle the shifter it
should come right off.
- Remove the council, to do this open the council storage box top and there will be 2 screws that hold the concil top in place,
you need to remove these. Then take your ashtray out so you can have
something to pull on to remove the council. Pull it off there are 4 clips one on each corner.
- With shifter and council off, take your boot and place it over the shifter stick and pull it around the gear selector. You can use a
BIG ziptie to secure this. (Dan U said he didn't use anything just put the council back on and it held in place) whatever works
for you.
- With shifter boot in place time to replace everything. Take the
council top and snap the 4 pins back in place. Then put the
shifter back in by placing the white O/D plastic piece on the notch on the shifter stick. Then place the shifter back on carefully!!
- If all goes well you should just have to replace the screws for the top and your done.
