If your windows are not rolling up, it is probably that your drive rollers inside the lift have failed. You not going to go to the dealer to get it fixed because that will cost you big $. What to do?
What you need is a Drive Gear Kit from Glazier's Mustang Barn. Cost for the kit is $32.95, and includes a new drive gear and drive rollers.
To install the kit:
- Remove the door panel (take out the screw at the lower rear corner, window control panel, and plastic trim by the mirror).
- Unplug the door lamp plug near the door pull, remove the screw near the door pull, going into the door.
- Slide the door panel up to disengage the hooks holding it on, and of course, the top edge.
- Remove the stereo speaker.
- Unplug the power lead for the lift motor.
- Remove the three bolts holding the lift motor.
- Take the motor to the workbench, and pry the gear cover plate up just enough the swivel the plate around the drive rivet and expose the drive gear.
- Remove the old drive gear and all the debris.
- Put some gear (axle) grease on the new gear and install the new gear, rollers, and the old metal center gear.
- Swivel the cover back in place, and clamp any distortion in the plate flat with a pliers.
- Put everthing back together.
- Put white lithium grease on the lift tracks and arms now.
Should take you about 90 minutes.
